DCUO Powers List
When creating your hero in DC Universe Online, you have the option to choose between one of six powers: fire, ice, nature, mental, sorcery, or gadgetry.
I have put together a comprehensive DCUO powers list so you can have a good idea of what each power type does and which one you should pick for your hero.
Fire
The fire tree will certainly be one of the most popular skill on this DCUO powers list. Fire has two specific trees which you can specialize in: immolation and ignition.
The immolation tree is perfect (and probably one of the best powers) for any damage-dealing melee class. In other words, if you to be able to kill your opponents quickly, consider immolation plus a melee weapon like a Two-Hand or Duel-Wield weapon.

Ignition is an unusual tree that combines casting and tanking roles. Ignition relies on chaining together moves for damage bursts. This can be effective but the downside is you are forced to cast several spells to deal maximal damage.
Fire has a tanking feature which is arguably (and strangely) one of the best 1v1 classes in the game.
Ice
Ice powers are the best tanking powers on this DCUO powers list for player versus computer battles. Not only does using your abilities boost your defense, but you have spells which mitigate damage and allow you to block spells.
Cryogenics is the primary tanking tree within frost. It specializes in particular in blocking the effects of spells, making it good at stopping both other player’s and computer enemy’s powers.
Storm powers can be both offensive and defensive. Storm powers one of the best powers on this DCUO powers list for tanking groups of enemies. This can make them good for certain encounters and battles where you will face multiple enemies.
Mental
Without a doubt, Mental is predominately a PvP (player vs. player) specialization. In fact, their “control” mode is a PvPers dream as it is designed to help you control groups of enemies as your allies blow through the battlefield. There are two specializations: Telekinesis and Illusion.
Telekinesis is the more offensive of the two specializations and should be picked by people who want to deal damage and are interested in Telekinesis powers. This is certainly one of the coolest powers to have, regardless of usefulness.
Illusion may not seem as exciting at first, but in my opinion this appears to be shaping up to be one of the best PvP powers. This power allows you to control your enemies through your fear attacks. Winning a 2-on-1 battle is much easier if you can fight each player one at a time thanks to your fear spells.
Sorcery
The sorcery tree is probably the most desirable of all specializations for grouping. Destiny Sorcerers are one of the game’s primary healing classes and have a variety of spells such as polymorph which makes them quite valuable. They can also deal out a good amount of damage which makes this class versatile and effective.
While I hate to make comparisons between games, the Summoner powers are very similar to the Warlock in World of Warcraft. You can summon pets to help you, cast curses, and conjure items which aid you in battle.
Nature
Nature, along with Sorcery, is another one of the healing paths. Nature will also likely be the least popular out of all the powers on this DCUO powers list, so if you want a unique character, this is a good choice. It has two specializations: plants and shapeshifting.
The plants tract gets both some healing spells and some offensive abilities. The shapeshifting path allows players to morph into animals to use different ability sets. Both specializations can heal or deal damage effectively.
Note: Many players consider shapeshifting overall to be weak.
Gadgetry
Gadgetry is easily the most unusual of all the powers on this DCUO powers list. It comes with two specializations: traps and tricks. Both are great and are among the top PvP powers.
While the distinction between the two is fairly minor, Traps are more effective in large-scale battles whereas tricks are most effective in 1-on-1 and other small-scale fights. Either way, both are great PvP classes due to all the stuns and crowd-control abilities.
DCUO Powers List Conclusion
After creating this DCUO Powers list, I can easily say that most powers are fairly versatile and work with a variety of classes. Just remember to avoid the incompatible combinations, such as immolation (which specializes in melee combat) with a hand-blaster (which requires range).
